Rob Manfred And The Athletics Front Office Are Going At Each Other's Necks And I Think I'm On The Athletics Side
Come on Rob, calm down dude. The body is still in the coffin and he's still taking dumps on the A's chest. Every time he opens his mouth I can't believe they let him speak to the media. He is brutally honest, but come on. Oakland has lost everything. The Raiders, the Warriors, and now the Athletics. It also doesn't sound like he cares at all. Instead of having a proper statement prepared he basically said "about time they had some people come" when he was asked about the reverse boycott game. Not a "good for the fans, we're happy they came out to support their ball club after they have been playing so well." I'm honestly not even sure if he knows the A's just won 7 in a row. He's like "yeah, they should be showing up." I just can't believe this guy.
He talks about how the community has to show support...but why would they support an owner/franchise who ships away anyone with an ounce of talent? You want people to pay MLB money to watch AA players most of the time. That sounds like an issue that MLB could step in front of. Buster Olney had so many issues with the Orioles and their tanking but there doesn't seem to be much conversation surrounding Oakland, probably because the convo around them is all about Vegas now. I thought these quotes were a little tone deaf, but that is just me. Wild for a commissioner to openly dump all over a fanbase and franchise in the same sentence. "ABOUT TIME LOSERS" - basically what Manfred said about Oakland.
But wait...there's more! Julie Edwards who is the spokesperson for Oakland's mayor fired back at Rob Manfred saying that there was never any offer for a stadium on the table.
Straight up calling out the commish! Oakland has had enough of being dragged in the dirt. They're firing back now, I mean what do they have to lose? Good for them for not backing down and letting Manfred throw dirt in their face at their lowest point. This is a hell of a response to the commish, they came for Manfred's neck with the receipts.
